Pixel 6A: The datasheet is excellent, but Google will have to make compromises

In the past few hours, it has emerged that the Google Pixel 6A will be launched in May, probably during the Google I / O on 11 and 12 May next. However, according to some sources, the launch of Pixel 6A could disappoint many fans of Google-branded devices, already put to the test by software bugs in recent months.

According to Slashgear, in fact, with Pixel 6A Big G he would like to start a new course for “A” series smartphones, treating them like the “Fan Edition” of Samsung’s flagship devices. This would essentially mean that the Pixel 6A could be a smartphone with anesthetics and hardware almost completely similar to those of the Pixel 6, but it could be sold at a much lower price than that of its older brother.

The news would be excellent, were it not that to obtain this result Google will have to cut some important features from the Pixel 6A. For example, the phone could say goodbye to the slightly curved display of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, limiting itself to a flat 6.2 “OLED panel. Furthermore, the available RAM and memory cuts should also be less capacious than those of the two high-end devices.

Even with these limitations, however, Pixel 6A could be an interesting smartphone for many users determined to try Google’s Android solution: in particular, the phone should keep the Google Tensor GS101 chipset, which is the first mobile SoC ever made by Google and implemented. right on Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Furthermore, under the body, we will also find a Samsung ISOCELL GN1 camera, the same one present on the two top of the Mountain View range.

To this, then, should also be added the maintenance of the Pixel 6 design, which has been highly appreciated by Google fans. The Slashgear leak, it is good to point out, moves away from the Pixel 6A data sheet that has been rumored in recent weeks, since according to other leakers the smartphone should have a decidedly less interesting lens, namely a 12 MP Sony IMX363.

In both cases, however, the Pixel 6A will be a phone with ups and downs from a technical point of view: it remains to be seen whether the smartphone will succeed, despite everything, in the midrange market. Much will also depend on the price of the device, which for the moment is unknown and which we will probably know only during the official presentation of Google, which should take place in about a month and a half.
