AMD’s Windows 11 graphics driver has a chance to cause Ryzen CPU settings in the BIOS to be wrong

Last month, AMD supported Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) image upgrade technology through Radeon Adrenalin 22.3.1 WHQL driver update. According to visual tests, the feature actually performed quite well. However, some users have reported that perhaps what AMD does not know is that the driver may cause firmware confusion on the Ryzen processor.

This problem was discovered by ComputerBase forum user “der-Kalli”, who was experiencing a messed or reset of his BIOS processor settings after upgrading to the 22.3.1 driver. In addition, some netizens also encountered this problem.

Some media speculate that this problem may stem from the “automatic overclocking” feature that AMD added in Radeon Adrenalin driver 21.9.1 last September. In a nutshell, this feature can use system permissions to automatically implement CPU and GPU overclocking settings for you, so users may not need to do tedious manual operations like Ryzen Master.

However, this feature has the potential to cause a conflict in the BIOS setup and cause confusion in the user’s configuration. Interestingly, this version also started supporting AMD Radeon GPUs in Windows 11.

AMD did not mention any information about the bug in the known problem lists of these two versions of the driver, so foreign media believe that AMD itself was not aware of the problem.
