The ‘at a glance’ widget is one of the most striking features of the Pixel Launcher and informs users about upcoming appointments, the weather and a few other things on the home screen. The latest update brings another category that was just opened up by a separate widget on the home screen: the battery level of connected Bluetooth devices.
The ‘at a glance’ widget isn’t quite fresh anymore but has recently been expanded due to a lack of alternatives or changes in plans on the part of Google: Information from the Nest doorbell was only recently added and now progress is being made in the extended local area.
The widget informs that a Bluetooth device is connected, and shows its name and also the battery level. Everything is in the usual two lines and without image material, as you know it from the widget.
As usual, this information has to share space with a few other things, so if you have appointments or other urgent items on the list, it probably doesn’t matter much. The weather information also disappears when the headphones are connected. If you do not want this information, you can specify in the widget settings that connected devices should be excluded or included again if necessary.
I think anyone who really needs this information and finds it helpful should rather rely on the Bluetooth widget, which has significantly more space, provides information about several devices and is also significantly more reliable due to the sole space.
