Fallout: New Vegas 2 is certainly a game desired by many and still well present in the rumors, but let’s see what Chris Avellone knows and what he thinks about it, who played a fundamental role in the creation of the original and the Fallouts prior to the Bethesda management, as an author of the story and screenplay.
The idea of a Fallout: New Vegas 2 began to be a particularly concrete dream since all those responsible for the original ended up within the large Microsoft family, in fact opening the doors – if nothing else – to a possible dialogue on the subject between Bethesda and Obsidian but the game was never announced and even Chris Avellone knows absolutely nothing about it, according to what he reported on his personal blog, answering some questions from users.
(FYI) Chris Avellone talks about the next Fallout game, he doesn’t think it will be called New Vegas 2. He does thinks any such game would require Bethesda’s support

“I don’t know anything about it, except that it wouldn’t be called New Vegas 2”, the latter is a fact that Avellone takes for granted, in case a project emerges in this regard. However, it is also interesting to read what the author thinks of a possible sequel to the game.
“I think such a game would still require Bethesda support, even if Obsidian is now acquired by Microsoft,” Avellone explained, but reported that this will hardly be able to access unless Bethesda intends to start the project on its own initiative, because it enjoys considerable creative and productive freedom.
“I know people think Phil Spencer can just force Bethesda to do something, but that’s not in the style of the studios acquired by Microsoft and the scheme they’re organized by.” Recently, Jeff Grubb had launched the idea that Microsoft was discussing with Obsidian and Bethesda the possibility of developing Fallout: New Vegas 2, but this has not yet led to any concrete announcement.
