iPhone 16 Pro may be the first iPhone to completely abandon the bangs

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the off-screen camera and off-screen Face ID will appear in the high-end iPhone release in 2024. Kuo again extrapolated from his previous report, instead of any new information, he tweeted his expectations for a “true full-screen iPhone” in 2024.

The tweet was a response to the April 2, 2022 tweet in which Kuo agreed with analyst Ross Young that the Face ID under the display would appear in 2024. Mr. Kuo said at the time that he thought “the timeline was not so much a technical issue as it was a marketing purpose.”

The new tweet repeats Face ID’s assertion and adds a prediction that the front-facing selfie camera will also be under the display. Kuo doesn’t know how this will happen, as he says “the quality of the front camera is not good for the lack of light.”

Image signal processors (ISPs) and correct “algorithms are critical to improving quality.” So while still not based on any direct supply chain source, he may have hinted that in this case, the postponement to 2024 is to give Apple time to overcome technical hurdles.

Previously, Mr. Kuo was known for his research notes for corporate investors, posting more details about Apple on Twitter starting in March 2022. Recently, he predicted details about the iPhone 14 having an upgraded front-facing camera.

however, as with most of his tweets to date, this prediction is based on inferences rather than any quoted information. However, the details reported by other sources may be in line with Guo’s speculations. For example, Samsung is said to be already creating under-panel technology that hides Face ID modules.

According to reports, this is likely to be prepared for the “iPhone 15 Pro” in 2023. Kuo himself has been reporting that Apple will add such a hidden Face ID system, which he said in 2021, which he thinks will come in 2023.
