Edge 101 Stable Release: Introduced PWA Center to improve default account switching

The Edge 100 Stable Edition was launched on April 1 with lightweight PDF previews and memory integrity protection. After 4 weeks of release, the Edge 101 stable release was released today. The new version introduces several notable features, including the Progressive Web Apps (PWA) Hub and more, and improves the default account switching feature.

The PWA Center began testing in February this year. In short, it’s like the “Apps” button on the toolbar, giving you quick access to your PWA. It will also encourage you to install your application as a PWA, and then group the installed PWA into categories that you can filter and sort.

You can enable the application button in the Appearance section of the Edge. That said, Microsoft hinted in its changelog that this feature would be rolled out in a staggered fashion.

Edge also has a new policy called EdgeDefaultProfileEnabled that allows you to set a default account instead of opening the last used account. Another handy feature will enable you to switch certificates on one website without having to exit the browser first.

For organizations that co-manage Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer, you can configure shared cookies through the Enterprise Site List Manager. There is also a new policy that enables you to set the default state that allows extensions to be installed from other stores.

The following is a complete list of policy updates:
