Thanks to this new feature of Android 13 you can sleep better

Among the innovations studied by the Google developer team for Android 13, we also find a feature that concerns Digital Wellbeing and, more specifically, the functions related to the Bedtime mode.

To date, the Google team on Android has already implemented various features specifically designed to discourage users from using the smartphone at night or, in any case, to make night use less tiring for the eyes. And with Bedtime mode, you can already set a schedule to grayscale your phone, disable the always-on display, and activate Do Not Disturb Mode.

Another novelty of Android 13 has been found

With Android 13, Google’s development team is keen to go further, allowing the system to have the ability to dim the phone’s wallpaper. Here are four screenshots with this “attenuation” at 0%, 25%, 50% and 100%:

According to what was discovered by the staff of 9to5Google by analyzing the code of the latest version of Digital Wellbeing available, the possibility of dimming the background will represent a specific option of the Bedtime Mode that will be added to the others designed to darken the screen and reduce eye fatigue. At present, there are not many details on this new feature and it is unclear how far this “darkening” of the background will go.

Furthermore, it is not clear whether this functionality will remain exclusive to devices based on Android 13 or if, on the contrary, it will also be extended to those based on previous versions of the OS. And in this regard, references to a function for devices not based on Android 13 that should allow users to apply a dark background have also been found in the Digital Wellbeing code.

Basically, at the moment we are moving among speculations but already tomorrow, on the occasion of Google I / O 2022, some more details could emerge. We’ll see.
