Sony released its fiscal year 2021 (April 2021-March of the following year) financial report. The data shows that Sony’s sales revenue reached 9,921.5 billion yen, a year-on-year increase. 10%; the operating profit for the year was 1,202.3 billion yen, excluding one-off factors such as equity interests, asset write-downs, and new crown fund expenditures (this fiscal year and the previous fiscal year), operating profit increased by 18%.
Sony said that in addition to the financial business, the five major businesses of electronics, film and television, music, games and semiconductors have achieved double growth in sales and profits.
As of March 31, 2022, PS5 shipments reached 19.3 million units, and PS4 shipments reached 117.2 million units. PlayStation Plus subscribers were 47.4 million, down 200,000 from 47.6 million in the same period last fiscal year.
