Google CameraX is the name of a development tool that can be used to improve the quality of the camera within applications and among the various new features included in its latest update are the improvement of video capture and support for advanced features. Such as HDR videos.
Probably most Android users will have happened at least once to open a camera app (think of the social ones) and be amazed by the poor quality of the images captured and often this happens because developers do not have access to tools that are able to allow them to make the most of the hardware part of the smartphone.
A new version of Google CameraX arrives
On the occasion of Google I/O 2022, the Mountain View giant has launched a new version of Google CameraX, a Jetpack library that developers can take advantage of to ensure that even entry-level models are able to offer users sufficient quality.
In practice, Google’s idea is to want to make available to app developers a tool thanks to which it is possible to guarantee users that the quality of the images captured by the applications is comparable to that of the default camera app and regardless of the type of smartphone used (from the more expensive models to the entry-level ones ).
Once Android 13 is available, CameraX will have even more features for developers to take advantage of, such as a more accurate and higher quality viewfinder image, preview stabilization (which will look like the end result), the ability to record video at 60 fps, HDR support for both rear and front cameras and the ability to use some common modes (such as night mode, bokeh effect portraits, HDR, face retouching and automatic mode).
Basically, with Android 13, using social apps should be even more enjoyable. We’ll see.
