Windows 11 new recorder hands-on experience: audio visualization interface, one-click change recording device, format, etc.

Before the release of Windows 11 22H2, Microsoft updated a variety of built-in software in the system, including Paint, Photos, Notepad, etc., and even confirmed the new Outlook to be launched in the fall of 2022.

Microsoft is now releasing a brand new version of the Voice Recorder for Windows 10, featuring new WinUI visuals and improved functionality. Recently, Windows Latest has had a hands-on experience with the recorder, let’s take a look.

As you can see from the screenshots below, the new recorder will have an audio visualization interface during recording and playback, as well as a new look and feel for the app. Additionally, the new recorder has the option to change the recording device when the user’s computer is connected to multiple audio hardware.

Also, users can change the file format in the recorder. The updated Voice Recorder replaces the previous Windows 10 version of Voice Recorder and will be released to the public later this year. Microsoft confirmed that it is actively reviewing tester feedback and plans to add exciting new features soon.

For example, Microsoft recently released a brand new Photos app for Windows 11. Microsoft’s Photos app has followed the fluid design principles that first appeared in Windows 10, and it also comes with a modern “mica” material. However, when the user edits the image, such as cropping or changing the resolution of the image, mica isn’t noticeable in the photo app.

Microsoft is redesigning some of the UI for Photos, for example, the “Edit” interface will get a mica background, which does look better. Additionally, Microsoft has also ditched the giant back button. To return to the previous screen, the user will need to click the “Cancel” button or press the Esc key.
