Google tests a new interface for the Play Store

In addition to the many innovations announced on the occasion of Google I/O 2022, the developer team of the Mountain View giant also has other functions it is working on and a rather interesting one, still in the test phase, concerns Google Play Store.

The app store of the Mountain View giant has long used the carousels that show the icon, the name and the rating, with three apps completely visible without the need to scroll but it seems that in the developers’ projects there is a modification of this interface.

How the Google Play Store interface changes

In particular, Google’s goal is to show users more information about the apps displayed and this is by switching from a carousel interface to a list-based one: the icon becomes slightly smaller and the icon is added next to it. promotional text provided by its developer. Touching the arrow still accesses a full grid view.

Below is a screenshot of the current interface and two of the new ones:

At the moment this visual renewal has been reported for the tabs “Based on your recent activity” and “Recommended for you” while it does not seem to have been applied to the tabs dedicated to Games and Books.

The new solution that the Google team is working on is based on a slightly less visual approach but offers a better user experience on Google Play, as thanks to it, users no longer have to limit themselves to seeing the icon and name. app during quick navigation. At the same time, the old interface was chosen by the Mountain View giant as the full list would be a bit too “heavy”.

According to the reports, at present, this change has not yet been widely implemented but it will probably be made available to an increasing number of users in the next few days. We’ll see.
