STALKER 2 restarts, development resumes after the war in Ukraine is stopped

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl resumes its path, with the GSC Game World team confirming, according to reports from the Polish website Gary Online, that work on the game has resumed after the forced interruption due to the war in Ukraine.

In fact, we recall that the development team in question is Ukrainian and is based near Kiev, which obviously influenced the works: after the postponement with a new release date communicated last January, GSC Game World reported that the development is going on hiatus in the most critical phases of the war in Ukraine, to ensure security for developers.

At this point, it seems that the work has restarted, however, according to what the team itself reported on its Discord channel: answering the question about how the team is doing and if development is continuing, GSC Game World replied “continue”. Further confirmation of an unblocking of the situation is also precisely the fact that the Discord channel has been reactivated, after a period in which it had essentially ceased activities.

Obviously, we do not know if the release date of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl can be respected, and given the situation still underway in Ukraine it is very likely that the game will have to be further postponed with respect to the date of 8 December 2022 communicated previously, but some updates in this regard could arrive during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase set for June 12, 2022, given the partnership with Microsoft on the project.

Among the new information, the developers also reported their intention to propose different difficulty levels to adapt STALKER 2 to different types of users: “We will prepare enough difficulty settings so that players can find their own right level of challenge. it will be something even for the truly hardcore experts. ”

As we have seen, the game has recently been renamed “Chornobyl” to reflect the Ukrainian spelling.
