Is the OnePlus 10 Pro waterproof? Does it have an IP certification?

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the latest flagship from the Chinese manufacturer. There is a lot to like about this phone, including the fast processor, the extremely good QHD+ AMOLED display, the large battery or the extremely fast charging. But is the OnePlus 10 Pro waterproof? Does it have an IP certification?

These are some of the key questions many people ask when making a purchasing decision. Well, the answer to that question is… it depends. Because the OnePlus 10 Pro is only officially waterproof with an IP68 certification from T-Mobile in the USA.

The IP68 certification means that the OnePlus 10 Pro is protected against dust and water. The “6” means that the OnePlus 10 Pro is fully dustproof, while the “8” stands for the ability to survive in up to 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes.

The problem, however, is that only the American T-Mobile OnePlus 10 Pro devices have the IP68 certification. But one can assume that all other models sold worldwide would also get the IP68 certification. However, OnePlus is officially doing without it, it’s just a cost-cutting measure to keep the phone’s price down.

However, it is strange how OnePlus argues here again. Because before the OnePlus 9 Pro, none of the OnePlus flagships had an IP68 certification. OnePlus said that customers didn’t want this anyway, so the price can be kept lower.

The OnePlus 9 Pro, on the other hand, was suddenly certified to be close to IP68, when OnePlus said that users would now expect this from a flagship. And now with the OnePlus 10 Pro, it’s time to roll backward again. Another one can see it.
