Resident Evil 3: The launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S versions may be imminent

The launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of Resident Evil 3 and its free upgrade for those who already own the game on PS4 and Xbox One would seem to be upon us, according to some reports on the net.

As noted by Twitter user @BSAAEurope currently launching the PS4 version of Resident Evil 5 on PS5, the console offers the ability to download and install the next-gen upgrade. Unfortunately, the option does not work yet, i.e. it does not allow you to actually download the PS5 version and leads to an error message, but it could suggest that the launch may now be imminent.

The same Twitter user points out that on the contrary there is not yet the option to upgrade Resident Evil 2 and 7, so perhaps the third chapter will be the first to redo the look.

At the beginning of March, Capcom announced the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7, with free upgrades for those who already own them on old-gen consoles. In the latter case, it will be possible to transfer all saves from PS4 and Xbox One to PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. The same also applies to all previously purchased DLCs.

All that remains is to wait for official news from Capcom on the launch of the current-gen versions of the Resident Evil series, which at this point could be imminent.
