Google discontinues two Android apps

The lights will soon go out for two Google apps, but these announcements are no longer surprising. For example, Google now gives a specific date for the Google Play Movies & Series app. By the end of May 2022, the conversion to Google TV will be complete.

Google TV has a different structure but is fundamentally comparable to the previous app. It’s just that Google wants to build a unified ecosystem with its TV software. For example, the Google TV app for smartphones has an integrated remote control that you can use to control Android TV devices.

From the end of May 2022, the Google TV app will become your one-stop shop for buying, renting and watching movies and series on your Android mobile device or tablet. Movies and series will then no longer be supported in the Google Play app. You can still buy apps, games and books there.

Google TV works just like Google Play Movies & TV – with the latest releases, rentals, deals and interesting recommendations for you. This app has a seamless transition, so you don’t need to delete the old app or download a new app.

My Business will be replaced by Google Maps

Just as concrete is the date when the Google My Business app should disappear. What is possible in it should be able to be maintained in Google Maps and via Google search in the future. There is still a little more time to get used to it.

As of July 2022, the Google My Business app will no longer be available. You can then easily manage your company profile in the Google Maps app on your smartphone. Alternatively, you can also use Google search.
