Cyberpunk 2077 sales to force developer CD Projekt’s first-quarter net profit increased by 112% YOY

According to reports, Polish game developer CD Projekt’s first-quarter net profit more than doubled year-on-year as sales of Cyberpunk 2077 climbed. For the past few months, CD Projekt has been busy fixing the bugs that exist in Cyberpunk 2077.

According to the financial report, CD Projekt’s revenue in the first quarter increased by 9% to 216 million zlotys, which was higher than analysts’ expectations; the company’s first-quarter net profit increased by 112%, reaching 68.9 million zlotys.

In addition, CD Projekt’s cost of sales decreased by 2% to 60.6 million zloty, mainly due to a 63% decrease in “Cyberpunk 2077” service-related costs, but an 87% increase in publishing costs.

Piotr Nielubowicz, the chief financial officer of CD Projekt, pointed out that the revenue in the first quarter mainly came from “Cyberpunk 2077”, and the company’s cash, deposits and national debt balance increased by more than 107 million in the first three months of this year.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released at the end of 2020 and CD Projekt has been busy fixing it due to the numerous bugs it has released several patches. Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt, said: “The next version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be released with a major update… This good news increases the game’s reach and sales. Well, especially on the host side, it has grown significantly.”
