Although we have been talking about it for four years now, the Starfield trademark will only become official starting from June 2022, given that the registration with official recognition of the brand will be complete only from next month.
Not that it changes much at this point, but apparently so far there would have been the possibility, for any other company or private individual, to register the name Starfield with the typical circular logo for their own different space game, which would have triggered a situation quite definitely strange.
However, it would not be a new problem in the world of video games, as demonstrated by the case of Ubisoft forced to change the name of Gods & Monsters in Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
The Starfield trademark will therefore receive legal value, as a registered trademark, starting from June 14, 2022. The name Starfield has already been registered previously, but apparently, this new evolution concerns not only the name but also the composition of the logo with the circular design and the font used, which will probably be fundamental as regards the merchandising linked to the game.
In the meantime, Starfield has been postponed to 2023, so it will not be able to come out on November 11, 2022, which has triggered a considerable series of controversies from fans (and not only). Either way, the game will most likely be shown at the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase on June 12.
