The WhatsApp development team continues to work to improve various aspects of the service, including status updates: the responses to the latter will become easier to recognize with a future update of the application and the news in development – as a new specific indicator – it will be available on all platforms.
In recent weeks we have told you about much interesting news related to WhatsApp, both for the stable version and for the Beta. From the reactions finally available for everyone to the new end-to-end encryption indicators arriving, passing through the future possibility of use on more than one smartphone and tools for group administrators, to the work of improving ephemeral messages.

WhatsApp: status update response indicator
In recent times, the WhatsApp development team has also dealt on several occasions with enhancing status updates, from sharing links that will become much more interesting, to selecting the public. But that’s not all: as mentioned at the beginning, a new indicator is being prepared that allows you to identify responses to status updates.
As you can see in the screenshot below, WhatsApp will show a different icon in case the last message received in a conversation is a response to a status update. This is clearly a small addition, however its usefulness should not be underestimated. Just think of the case in which the replica is nothing more than a rapid reaction to the status update, well the new indicator will allow you to understand the reference on the fly.
The visible screenshot comes from WhatsApp Desktop Beta, however, it can already be said with certainty that the development team is working to make the same function also available in the WhatsApp apps for Android and iOS. At this point, it is good to reiterate that the novelty is still under development, for this reason, it is not available for any user, neither of the stable branch nor of the beta one. The development team is working to release it with a future app update, with priority as always to beta testers. This, therefore, should be considered as a mere preview.
