Xbox Series X | S has totaled higher sales than PS5 in the UK during 2022, according to data collected by GamesIndustry and communicated on social by Christopher Dring.
The news had gone quietly when Dring announced that PS5 was the best-selling console in the UK in May, while Nintendo Switch dominates in 2022, but numerically the next-gen Microsoft platform has done better than Sony in the past five months.
Is it the fault of the lack of availability of PlayStation 5? It is probable, as well as the fact that between the two Xbox models it was Series S the most successful, both due to availability and the reduced price.
That said, it is funny to note how the GamesIndustry journalist ended up in the crosshairs of some fanboys for these statements, even receiving the accusation of having drawn up an “unfair” ranking due to the presence of Xbox Series S.
Dring joked about it: “I was once accused of being an Xbox fanboy because I spoke three times about the recent success of the console, while I only spoke twice about the success of PlayStation – I admire this attention to detail,” he said.
