Google discontinues three Android apps

A few days ago we were able to report on the end of two Android apps from Google, and in the meantime, another candidate has even been added. What’s most curious is the story behind these blacklisted Android apps, all of which aren’t going away entirely. Instead, Google created a replacement for the features. Every summer the lives of two apps come to an end and later this year candidate number 3 disappears.

My Business: Management now directly in Google Maps

The Google My Business app will disappear as early as July. If you maintain a location in Google Maps, you can do this directly in Google Maps in the future or alternatively in the mobile Google search. There you can still reply to reviews and you can maintain the data of your location or business. In my experience, this change is okay, the loss of the My Business app is not.

Google Duo will disappear and be replaced

There have been rumors and hints about this step for a long time. Now Google has officially made Google Duo disappear very soon. All known features will be transferred to Google Meet in the coming months. This is the official sequel, by the way. Google Meet, therefore, remains free for private customers.

Google Duo is said to be gone later this year. If you want to video chat with a Google app, you can use Google Meet. This also means there are a few new Meet features for existing Duo users that you may not have been aware of before.

Android Auto for phone screens is on the verge of extinction

As Google announces, Android Auto for phone screens is now finally discontinued. This had been in the offing for a while, now the end is very near and is now also being communicated directly within the app. There is also a replacement here: Assistant Driving Mode.
