Signal: Messenger with small improvements

The new version 5.45 of the desktop app for the encrypted messenger Signal comes with numerous small improvements for Windows, Mac and Linux. A dynamic audio indicator now helps users determine if they are speaking at the right volume during group calls. This is especially helpful as Signal now supports group calls of up to 40 participants. Like all messages, these calls are fully encrypted with Signal.

As a further innovation, groups for which users have made a request to join from their phone are now also displayed on the PC. Also new in version 5.45: If the download of a larger file – for example, a video – is aborted due to a patchy WLAN connection, the download can now simply be restarted.

The desktop version only needs to be paired with an existing Signal installation on an Android or iOS smartphone. After that, users can receive and receive their signal messages and calls on their PC.
