Wear OS 3.5 launches – this is new

Samsung and Google have been very close partners for Wear OS for a year and Samsung is currently testing new versions exclusively. This is also shown by the new beta update for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, which brings the previously unknown Wear OS 3.5. It’s a “big” leap from the previous Wear OS 3.2, which remains exclusive to the Samsung watch.

Samsung pairs the new Wear OS 3.5 with its own One UI Watch 4.5. Thus, it may not be clear from the changelog which of the innovations actually relate to the part of the Samsung software and which to the newer Wear OS version.

Samsung releases the first changelog for Wear OS 3.5 and One UI Watch 4.5

Don’t be surprised, the changelog comes from a language that we don’t speak and neither does the translator.

Clock screen

  • Added new Duo-Edge/Box complications.
  • The clock screen has been updated.

Call, Contact

  • Dual SIM function & Ul will be added.

Notification

  • Agif message playback is supported on Messages.
  • New unified composer: start with an integrated keyboard, stt and scramble functions, and support for draft functions.
  • Subtext field support: Displays additional information, e.g. B. Gmail Noti account name.
  • Single Unicode Emoticon Zoom: Supports noti body zoom feature consisting of one emoticon.

Keyboard

  • Supports Qwerty layout, continuous input
  • Supports keyboard/handwriting/voice input seamlessly.
  • Add date, alarm name, notification, etc. to alarm setting.

What the Reddit user also notes is the slightly faster response time of the software. But it can be a placebo. In addition, the watch’s settings are now comparable to the settings on a Galaxy smartphone and therefore easier to understand.

Wear OS 3: Samsung continues to be very exclusive

So far, Google hasn’t even mentioned the newer Wear OS 3.5 anywhere. This will probably end up in the Android Studio sometime in the near future and will be available for developers. Other manufacturers should not be able to rely on Wear OS 3.x for their smartwatches until this summer.
