Android 13 brings new features to save battery

While Google is completing the new Android 13 and preparing the Pixel 7 smartphones for their market launch in autumn, some planned innovations are also coming to light again. Among them was the new display driver that Google is bringing with it for the Pixel 7 Pro. Our beloved colleagues with developer know-how were able to identify further planned innovations. This time it’s about the battery again.

Pixel 6 Pro makes use of features planned for Pixel 7 Pro

As the esteemed Mishaal Rahman was able to find out with other developers, new settings are planned for the displays of Pixel smartphones. You could already use the Pixel 7 Pro’s display driver on the Pixel 6 Pro and make discoveries along the way. Users will be able to change the native screen resolution on their Pixel phones.

Google is showing its late bloomer side

This is not new for users of Samsung Galaxy and Co., but it is for users of the Google Pixel series. Google plans to launch Android 13 on the Google Pixel 7 Pro. Users can then switch from QHD to Full HD. Because this ensures less load on the hardware, it should ultimately have an impact on the battery life. For users running graphically intensive apps, that could be a noticeable difference.

It is currently not known whether Google is really only planning the new feature for the new Pixel 7 Pro. Or whether Pixel 6 Pro owners can still hope. We will probably have to wait for the final launch of Android 13 in September and then finally know more.

By the way, there is no indication that Google intended the feature for the regular Pixel 6 and Pixel 7. There will be no option to turn down the Full HD resolution. Would probably look a lot worse too, going from 1080p to 720p.
