Official Apple watchOS 9: more watchface, more interactivity and more convenience

Apple immediately rocketed with iOS 16 at WWDC 2022, But now it’s time to talk about the Apple Watch – more precisely the new version of its operating system, watchOS 9. You obviously want to give runners lots of helpful opportunities to improve. New metrics can also be used for hiking, HIIT, or functional strength training.

The fitness app generally ends up on the iPhone with iOS 16. An Apple Watch is therefore no longer absolutely necessary. Let’s get to the sleep app, which can now also recognize sleep phases. It took long enough. You can then see how long you’ve used up in deep, REM, or shallow sleep and how that affects your recovery.

If a user has heart disease, the Apple Watch can provide more heart health data and make it accessible to doctors. You can use a medication app to track the intake of medicine. It can also remind you to take it. The medication can be scanned by camera and entered in the calendar.

Then there is not much more. The watch is increasingly becoming a health tool.

The Fitness app is available to all iPhone users who want to track and meet their fitness goals, even if they don’t have an Apple Watch. iPhone users can set a daily exercise goal in the Fitness app and track how their actively burned calories are helping to close their exercise ring. iPhone motion sensors can measure steps, distance, stairs climbed, and workouts from third-party apps to estimate how many calories are actively burned toward the daily motion goal. In addition, users can share their exercise ring with friends for additional motivation.

The Health app now comes with medication. With it, users can easily create and manage a medication list, set up schedules and reminders and keep track of their medication, vitamins or dietary supplements. In the US, users can simply point their iPhone camera at a label to add a medication, learn about their medication, and receive an alert if there may be critical drug interactions. In addition, users can share their health data with their loved ones and easily create a PDF with the available health data from affiliated health facilities directly in the Health app.
