Samsung Pass will merge with Samsung Pay with important news

Samsung today announces an important novelty: the well-known brand is preparing to integrate Samsung Pass within Samsung Pay, introducing a series of important services and innovations within the app. The “merger” starts today in South Korea and will continue in the coming weeks and months, reaching many other markets.

The integration of Samsung Pass into Samsung Pay is underway with many new features

With this novelty, the Samsung Pay app will integrate credit cards, debit cards, passwords, digital keys (with cars starting from Hyundai ), tickets, coupons, loyalty cards and more. The update to the next version will affect all smartphones that have at least Android 9 Pie.

Samsung Pay already allows you to store payment cards and loyalty cards, but with the upcoming merger, the potential of the application and the service will grow dramatically. The new app will include digital keys to open the car and smart locks connected to SmartThings (also to be shared temporarily with friends and family), and will also allow you to keep digital assets, such as Bitcoins (initially with the support of Bithumb, Coinone and Korbit).

According to what we can read in the official release, in the future Samsung also plans to support boarding passes issued by airlines and tickets for cinemas, theaters, shows and sporting events. Among the partners mentioned by the manufacturer we have Korean Air, Jin Air and Jeju Air, but also Megabox, Lotte Cinema and Ticket Link. All of course with the security offered by Samsung Knox.

Through the Samsung Pay update we want to offer a more convenient experience not only for payments but also for home, car, public transport and cultural life, ” said Jini Han, Vice President of Digital Life Team, MX Division, of Samsung Electronics. ” We plan to expand the Samsung Pay ecosystem by partnering with developers.

The integration of Samsung Pass into Samsung Pay has already started in South Korea, but it could take a few weeks before we can appreciate the news too. It will remain to be seen which of the services mentioned by the manufacturer will also be available in Europe and Italy immediately: what do you expect from this merger? Let us know yours.
