Starting from iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura and tvOS 16, apps that use Apple’s native video player will be able to use the playback speed menu, and developers can call the SDK without needing to develop again.

According to the document, the default playback speed options of Apple’s native video player are 0.5×, 1.0×, 1.25×, 1.5× and 2.0×, and developers can also change the displayed options in the call.

In supported iPhone and iPad apps, users will be able to access the playback speed menu by tapping the three-dot icon surrounded by a circle. In the Mac app, the user can adjust by clicking “»” and selecting the playback speed. In supported Apple TV apps, there will be a new timer icon for playback speed to the left of the subtitle icon.
