Instagram: Control for sensitive content revised and expanded

Innovations for Meta subsidiary Instagram: Here you want to offer new controls for the display of sensitive content. It should then match your user experience because you have the option of personalizing it.

So every user has the opportunity to decide how much sensitive content is played out from accounts that he does not follow. As is well known, content from other users is also displayed in the Explore tab, and since last year the possibility of control has been given.

From then on, however, the control options have been revised in such a way that they cover all surfaces with recommendations. In addition, to Explore, that would also be the search, reels or accounts, the hashtag page and in-feed recommendations.

Here you can also limit the visibility of sensitive content and accounts. For the update, Instagram uses the technology that is also used to enforce the referral guidelines.

It should be ready in the coming weeks and the new controls will be available to all users. There are three options: “More”, “Standard” or “Less”. “Standard” is the default. “More” means you see more sensitive content and accounts, with “less” correspondingly less. The “More” option is not available for users under the age of 18.

You can find the new sensitive content settings in Settings (Profile > Settings > Account > Sensitive Content Control).
