FCC documents show Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series will come with 10W charger

FCC filings reveal three Samsung smartwatches — the SM-R900, SM-R910, and SM-R920. The first two are the 40mm and 44mm versions of the Samsung Galaxy Watch5, and the last is the Watch 5 Pro. Interestingly, the wireless charger tested in the lab is rated at 10W (5V, 2A).

The Watch 4 (and previous ones) use a 5W charger, which suggests the newer models will charge faster (in testing, the Galaxy Watch 4 took about an hour and a half). Note that the data above are input ratings, the charger may still be limited to 5W output in practice.

Whether or not these watches have fast charging, they’ll have larger batteries — the 40mm and 44mm models of the Galaxy Watch5 will have 276mAh and 397mAh cells, respectively, and the Watch5 Pro will have a larger 572mAh battery.

As for the Pro model, there will be no rotating bezels. The leaker Ice Universe expressed further dissatisfaction with the design, as there will be a small bezel around the display, which will be more eye-catching due to the inconsistency of the color with the active area of the display.

The watches are all equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5GHz, b/g/n) and NFC connectivity, and there should also be versions that include an LTE communication module. More details on the Galaxy Watch5 series will emerge as the August release date approaches.
