Google AdSense is now launching shopping links as a lab feature. You should now encounter these more frequently on the web. Shopping links are placed in the main content of a website (e.g. in an article) by adding hyperlinks to existing words when Google detects a direct-to-buy product. When users click the link, different Shopping ads for the product are presented.
The whole thing runs on the Google advertising platform AdSense. We also use them here in the blog. It is therefore quite possible that you will find links here that are always set automatically by Google. But the whole thing should be kept within limits because Google states:
We only activate shopping links for a maximum of 10% of your traffic. They will therefore only have a limited impact on your sales.
If you don’t want to see any shopping links, you have to use an ad blocker as usual or – if available – book an ad-free subscription. Of course, we would be happy about the latter option, but that is up to you.
