Presented last January, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is one of the most interesting smartphones in the range of the Korean house. The device costs less than the most recent Samsung Galaxy S22, can count on an excellent technical data sheet and has already arrived on the market with Android 12.

On the horizon, however, there is a new variant of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE that could arrive in Europe with hardware revised in a fundamental element. According to what was revealed by Galaxy Club, in fact, Samsung could launch a weakened version without 5G support of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. Here are the details that emerged on the new project.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE: There is a “Lite” version coming with Snapdragon 720G

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is available on the global market in two variants, one with Snapdragon 888 and one with Exynos 2100. Coming, however, there would be another variant that we could define as “Lite”. The technical data sheet of this variant, spotted in two different European shops, ITRelation and Technet, is identical to the standard version of the smartphone with the only exception of the SoC.

The new version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, in fact, can count on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC, last year’s medium-low range chipset (it is used, for example, by the Galaxy A52 4G). The SoC in question offers a good level of performance but is certainly not comparable to those guaranteed by Galaxy S21 FE. Also, note that the SoC does not support 5G.

According to reports from Sammobile, however, the smartphone could have support for 5G despite the use of an SoC which, at least for the moment, has always been without support for new generation mobile networks. It will be necessary to await the official announcement on the project for more details on the matter.

As for the datasheet, this new version of S21 FE can also count on a 6.4-inch diagonal AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution. To support the SoC we will find 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a 4,500 mAh battery. The photographic sector includes three rear cameras with the same configuration as the “standard” S21 FE. There is a 12 Megapixel main sensor, a 12 Megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor and an 8 Megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is 32 Megapixels.

The operating system will be Android 12, probably with the latest version of One UI. Furthermore, as regards the design, there should be no differences compared to the current Galaxy S21 FE even if the range of the new smartphone could include some new colors. The commercial name of the project may also be slightly different (the term Lite used above is just a guess).

The debut is a matter of days

The new variant of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is very close to its debut. The stores that have anticipated the existence of the project, in fact, confirm the availability of the smartphone starting from next June 30th. It would therefore be a matter of a few weeks before being able to record the official debut of the new smartphone.

It remains to be understood what the list price will be which, due to the upgrading of the SoC, will inevitably have to be significantly lower than that of the Galaxy S21 FE which today, without too much difficulty, can be purchased on Amazon for just over 500 euros.
