Microsoft Teams will be introduced to casual games Internal testing has begun

Microsoft has started working on bringing casual gaming to Microsoft Teams. People familiar with the matter told The Verge that Microsoft has begun testing games such as Solitaire, Connect 4 and Wordament in Microsoft Teams. These casual games are designed to pit colleagues against each other during meetings.

While Halo or Forza won’t be available in Teams anytime soon, Microsoft clearly sees gaming as another way to improve the meeting experience as businesses continue to balance the demands of hybrid and remote work.

Microsoft is currently only testing casual games internally within its casual gaming products, and the company can choose not to roll out this integration to consumers and businesses. The Verge then contacted Microsoft, which declined to comment on its playtesting within Microsoft Teams.

In addition to testing casual games in Teams, Microsoft also envisions virtual spaces in Teams where colleagues can network and socialize through games. The virtual spaces are part of Microsoft’s broader Metaverse initiative, which has previously detailed its ambitions for 3D avatars and immersive meetings, expected to appear in Microsoft Teams this year.
