Samsung Wallet launches today: Stores digital keys, boarding passes, ID cards, and more

Samsung Wallet officially launched today, allowing Samsung users to store some digital keys, boarding passes, ID cards, and more. According to Samsung officials, Samsung Wallet integrates Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass into one secure platform. The mobile wallet was unveiled at the Unpacked event earlier this year.

Starting today, Galaxy users in the US, France, Germany, UK, Italy, and Spain can open the Samsung Pay or Samsung Pass app, and on their eligible Samsung Pay-enabled Galaxy phones running Android 9 Pie and above will be migrated to New Samsung Wallet.

Samsung Wallet will give users quick access to their payment cards, loyalty cards, loyalty cards, and more. It also integrates with Samsung Blockchain Wallet, enabling users to monitor their digital asset portfolio by checking the value of cryptocurrencies. The company noted that Samsung Wallet also includes the Samsung Pass feature, which securely stores passwords and authenticates users with their biometric data to log into apps and services.

Samsung Wallet can also be used to store important documents such as your COVID-19 vaccination certificate. Later this year, Samsung Wallet will begin supporting official IDs, such as mobile driver’s licenses and student IDs from select institutions.

Samsung Wallet also integrates with SmartThings to support digital car keys on select BMW, Genesis and Hyundai models. The integration will allow users to lock and unlock their car, start the engine, and more directly from the mobile wallet.

This feature is available on a variety of models, including BMW 1-8 Series, X5, X5 M, X6, X6 M, X7, Z4, iX3, iX and i4 models produced after July 2020. The feature is also available for Genesis GV60 models after September 2021, G90 models after December 2021, and Hyundai Palisade models after May 2022.
