You may not have heard of Glance, a mobile advertising company backed by Google. In the next two months, Glance is preparing to launch its own lock screen platform to Android devices in the United States, which means that Android phones may see ads when the screen is locked.
Glance is in talks with U.S. wireless carriers to launch its service on several smartphones as soon as next month. InMobi is a mobile marketing platform from India, and Glance, a subsidiary of InMobi, has an investment from Google.
Glance comes preinstalled on many Android phones, including some of Samsung’s budget phones. Glance is not an app in the traditional sense. Traditional apps are those that are searched for and installed through Google Play. Glance is overlaid on Android OS.
Glance is also part of Pragati OS, which is a customized version of the Android system jointly developed by Google and Jio. Glance mainly exists in the form of a dynamic lock screen. When you light up the screen, you will see the latest push content, such as various wallpapers, important news, videos, etc. In addition, advertisements will be displayed.
Can you put up with such an advertisement?
