Google Hangouts stops working

Google will discontinue several of its own apps and move some of them to other apps. This is what happens with Hangouts, for example, which becomes Google Chat.

Google has long recommended moving to Google Chat. It has basically been no secret that Google Hangouts has a life that is about to end. For a few weeks, however, the final end has also been officially announced and specified with a date. Google will be pulling the plug on its already quite old messenger app later this year. Some users are already noticing this.

Switch to Google Chat is forced, Hangouts can no longer be used

In the past few days, more and more users have noticed that they can no longer access Hangouts via Android or iOS. So Google starts the shutdown process noticeably. Up until last week, most users were still able to see new messages and conversations on Hangouts, but that’s no longer the case.

Google is shutting down the mobile app worldwide. This also applies to the Chrome extension. In his post a few days ago, Jonathan explained how you can still export your own Hangouts chats. For that, you just click there.

In addition to the focus on Google Chat, which is integrated into Gmail, for example, Google Duo is to be seamlessly integrated into Google Meet this year.
