Google Pixel Watch: Another premium feature for Fitbit presented

Google, together with Fitbit, is constantly expanding the range of functions in order to ensure a comprehensive market launch for its own Pixel Watch. At some point in the coming fall, the day will come when Google will release its own first Pixel Watch and thus offer its own Wear OS smartwatch for the first time.

It also means that for the first time we’re seeing the fruits of the acquisition that Google completed over a year ago. Fitbit has been part of Google since early 2021 and is said to play an important role in the Pixel Watch.

Fitbit should be able to equip Pixel Watch with many features

What the Google watch has to offer in the field of fitness and health is said to come largely from the Fitbit world. The functions offered also include the sleep profile, which was announced a few days ago. The new premium feature offers a new longitudinal analysis of your sleep patterns. You should get more insights into your sleeping behavior in order to ultimately be able to improve it.

Sleep profile helps you to find a better sleep

Google analyzes your sleep based on a lot of comparative data. To do this, the system uses 10 key metrics. What they want to offer us looks pretty extensive.

“These data points range from new metrics, including sleep schedule variability, a time before sound sleep and sleep disruption, to previously tracked metrics such as sleep duration, rest and REM sleep, and provide a holistic, month-long view of your sleep patterns and quality. ”

The monthly sleep analysis compares you with the appropriate average (age, gender, etc.) so that you can see in detail in which area your sleep or certain sleep phases could still be improved.

For a colorful illustration, the feature tells you what kind of sleeping animal you are. Dolphin, bear, giraffe, or hedgehog? For this purpose, the sleeping behavior of the animals should actually correlate with those of normal users.

Fitbit is of course bringing the new feature to some of its own devices first, like Sense, Versa 3 and so on. For a proper sleep profile, there must be at least 14 nights per month with measurement. More is always better. I’m sure that’s not all that Fitbit and Google will be launching in terms of new features for the Pixel Watch.
