Android Auto protagonist of yet another bug, but this time it is gigantic

The Android Auto platform is no stranger to bugs, which are sometimes somewhat bizarre. Today’s is just the latest in a long line and comes across as absurd UI behavior.

A discussion on Google’s support forums this week highlighted an issue with Android 12 and Android Auto that makes the UI icons and taskbar bloat to the point of rendering the system unusable. A “rickroll” would suit us just fine for how comical this bug appears.

Android Auto overwhelmed by a “big” bug

The exact cause of the bug is still unclear, but it seems not to depend on the existing Android Auto versions or even the cables, as it seems that the problem originates from the connected smartphone.

Fortunately, reports for this are limited, however Android 12 is a common element in complaints, particularly on some international devices.

Although a Samsung Galaxy A53 is mentioned in a report, most of the smartphones involved are OPPO, OnePlus and Xiaomi. Google has flagged this issue as one it is investigating, so a solution shouldn’t be long in the coming.

Google is also currently investigating the connection issues that are taking place with the Samsung Galaxy S22 series and Google Pixel 6, as well as some glitches introduced by the Android 12 update on a variety of devices.
