Microsoft will push EdgeOS to benchmark ChromeOS? Although the picture is fake, it is possible to come

FireCube has a very high following on Twitter due to frequent sharing of upcoming Windows features and posting some interesting Windows content. Recently, one of his tweets once again attracted the attention and discussion of many fans, that is, a screenshot of the Windows 11-based Edge OS system.

It should be noted that this screenshot is modified from PS, not that Microsoft wants to launch a lightweight operating system to compete with Google Chrome OS. In a Twitter post, FireCube added some description to it, saying “Leaked Microsoft plans to reinvent Windows 11 will switch to new web-based tech-driven shell”, with the following image:

At first glance, the screenshot looks like it’s an edited version of the Winver window. But there are a lot of errors in the details, firstly the error at the end of the first line, and the build numbers are not lined up correctly.

While this is just a joke, Microsoft’s recent actions related to its Edge web browser feature set really make “EdgeOS” very credible. That’s because, over the past few months, the Redmond giant has been adding a ton of extra, and possibly unnecessary, features to Edge, making it a mini-OS in its own right.

So far, the company has added a full sidebar with a calculator, unit converter, and photos app, and even links to the entire office suite and Outlook calendar. And it’s also now a gaming browser, which according to Microsoft is “the best.” More such features may also be added in the future.
