Jason Schreier has flatly denied that Assassin’s Creed Infinity will have an Aztec setting, as a recent rumor has it. The Bloomberg journalist intervened directly in the Twitter thread where what was written on Twitter by the insider Jeremy Penter was taken up.
Schreier: ” The next Assassin’s Creed is Rift, which is set in Baghdad. After that, there will be Assassin’s Creed Infinity which, even if it will include different games/experiences/biomes / whatever you want, will not have an Aztec setting, at least according to the first two. I’ve heard of it. ”
In short, Schreier, who never speaks at random, could have definitively put an end to this rumor. In any case, to know who is right, you just have to wait. Ubisoft of its own has not revealed much about the projects related to the next Assassin’s Creed.
He hasn’t even confirmed the existence of Rift, to be honest, but he has already spoken publicly about Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which will not be free-to-play, will have a lot of narrative elements and should be released in 2024 or beyond. More than a single game it should be a live service platform in which to grow the series through a series of different experiences.
Rift should instead be a minor Assassin’s Creed, launched as a stopgap in anticipation of Assassin’s Creed Infinity.
