FIA: Gran Turismo partnership suspended but far from over

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has previously been working with the PlayStation-exclusive game series, and there is also an FIA-certified Gran Turismo World Series between 2018 and 2021, but in this year’s GT Racing 7 championship, there is no more Certified by the FIA.

In addition, the FIA chose to work with Assetto Corsa: Race. Recently, the FIA responded to the matter, saying that the federation and the “GT Racing” series will continue to cooperate.

At the Motorsport launch event for the French Grand Prix on Saturday, the FIA made it clear that its relationship with Gran Turismo is far from over, motorsport reported. Frederic Bertrand, FIA’s Director of Formula E and Innovative Sports, said the governing body had agreed with GT Racing CEO Kazunori Yamauchi to suspend all cooperation until the GT7 platform became more stable.

Previously, the game was criticized by players for its poor online experience in the lobby and a series of problems at the beginning of its release. However, Bertrand said that the FIA also plans to review the current progress of “GT7” at the Salzburg event next weekend, and if the current state of the game is sufficiently complete, the partnership will be extended in early 2023.
