Android 12 currently runs on only 13.3 percent of devices

Earlier, Google updated its Android allocation numbers again at the starting of August 2022. Android 13 is still a week away from the official rollout but the bad thing is that Android 12 is still running on only 13.3 percent of all Android devices.

On August 4th, Google updated the Android Platform/API version distribution in Android Studio. The overview shows the individual distributions of the Android versions. Android 11 leads the overview with 27 percent.

Meanwhile, Android 11 distribution has increased from 23.8 percent to 27 percent since May 2022. It remains the most used version of Android, followed by Android 10 at 22.3 percent. Android 9 Pie is still at 14.5 percent, still beating the current version four years later.

Furthermore, Google does not seem to be able to get the fragmentation of its operating system under control. And Android 13 will make this even worse.
