If you download the software from an unknown source your device will be in danger. Some Chrome extensions may be given you trouble whether they are on your PC, on your phone, or as a browser extension. Recently, some researchers at McAfee Labs know that some Chrome extensions can steal your browsing history. Over 1.4 million people who are using the Chrome browser download these Chrome extensions on their devices and most of them don’t know what these extensions do in the background.

Remove these malicious Chrome extensions ASAP

When you first see these extensions, you find them unrelated. Some use it for watching Netflix shows, for track prices, and taking screenshots. They all extension sends some data to the creator of the website. McAfee explains that they put some code on the eCommerce websites and modified the server’s cookies after that when someone buys something they received some money.

Below mention those extensions and the number of times they were downloaded:

  • Netflix Party | 800,000 downloads
  • Netflix Party 2 | 300,000 downloads
  • Full Page Screenshot Capture – Screenshotting | 200,000 downloads
  • AutoBuy Flash Sales | 20,000 downloads

It shows that without an authentic source of Chrome extensions can create lots of issues, whether they are more popular and downloaded by a large number of users. It doesn’t mean that it’s safe to use on our devices. As per the McAfee blog, these extensions don’t show malicious behavior at starting that’s the reason a lot of people downloaded them. Chrome extensions don’t behave maliciously until 15 days after installing, so that’s the reason the user can’t find any issue in them.

If you have any Chrome extensions which mention above, then just delete them.
