Apple discontinues iOS 16.1 and 16.1.1 verification channels

After the release of iOS 16.1.2 on November 30, Apple closed the verification channels for the two previous iOS versions, iOS 16.1.1 and iOS 16.1, making it impossible to downgrade to these versions after upgrading to iOS 16.1.2.

To encourage users to keep the operating system updated, Apple typically closes the verification channel for the previous version shortly after the release of the new version.

Since Apple released the iOS 16.2 system, the verification channels for 16.1 and iOS 16.1.1 have been closed. As a result, users who upgrade to the new version can no longer downgrade to these two versions.

Apple is said to have included performance and optimization for the iPhone 14 series in iOS 16.1.2.

iOS 16.1.1 was a bug-fix update while iOS 16.1 added support for iCloud Photo Library and Live Events.

iOS 16.2, a significant update that is currently being tested, available next week.

Lastly, Apple Music Sing karaoke and other new features will be available in iOS 16.2. And to iCloud’s advanced data protection features.
