Google Sheets introduces AI-powered ‘Help me organize’ Feature

Google has announced the introduction of a new AI-powered feature, “Help me organize,” in Google Sheets as part of the latest Duet AI functionalities in Workspace Labs.

Unveiled at the I/O 2023 event, this innovative offering utilizes generative AI technology to suggest and generate table templates, such as product roadmaps, budgets, and events. Through a convenient side panel called “Help me organize,” users can input prompts specific to their needs, such as creating an agenda for a one-day sales kickoff event with session descriptions and status, or maintaining a client and pet roster for a dog walking business.

By inserting the suggested table and personalizing it as desired, users can streamline complex tracking and organizing tasks. These AI-generated suggestions have the potential to uncover important factors that may have initially been overlooked, enhancing the overall efficiency of spreadsheet management.

The rollout of this feature begins today, initially targeting Trusted Testers enrolled in Google’s Workspace Labs program. Google Sheets, known for its diverse range of use cases, benefits greatly from the integration of AI technology.

Furthermore, Google continues to expand its AI capabilities by gradually introducing image generation with Imagen and other models to Google Slides. This follows the recent in-testing announcement earlier this month. Alongside these developments, the existing “Help me write” feature in Gmail and Google Docs has gained popularity, although it is currently only accessible via the web and not available on mobile devices.
