Samsung Galaxy S23 FE appeared on Geekbench

Samsung’s highly anticipated Fan Edition (FE) smartphone series will reportedly feature the company’s in-house Exynos chipset in its upcoming release. This long-standing rumor appears to be confirmed by a recent benchmark test.

Geekbench assessed a prototype of the forthcoming Galaxy S23 FE, identified by the model number SM-S711B, which showcased the Exynos 2200 system-on-a-chip (SoC) alongside 8GB of RAM. As expected, the device ran on the Android 13 operating system.

The Exynos 2200 SoC was previously employed in the European version of the Galaxy S22 line, while the S23 series adopted Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 this year. However, reputable sources indicate that the S23 FE will retain the Exynos 2200 globally.

The preceding FE model, the S21 FE, was launched in January 2022, available in two variants: one equipped with the Snapdragon 888 and the other with the Exynos 2100, which serves as the predecessor to the Exynos 2200. Consequently, the inclusion of the Exynos 2200 in select versions of the S23 FE aligns with this product evolution, disregarding the absence of an S22 FE model.

According to rumors, Samsung’s decision to launch the S23 FE with the Exynos 2200 is primarily driven by the desire to deplete existing stock of this SoC. The smartphone is anticipated to hit the market in the third quarter of this year, between now and the end of September. Furthermore, potential improvements to the camera system are expected compared to its predecessor, the S21 FE.
