Samsung registers new brand names for wearable products

Samsung has recently registered a series of brand names for upcoming Galaxy products in South Korea. Among the registered names are Galaxy One, Galaxy Pulse, and Galaxy Rhythm, adding to the previously recorded Galaxy Index, Galaxy Insight, and Galaxy Circle.

These brand registrations come ahead of Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event in two weeks, where the highly anticipated debuts of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will take place. While the focus will primarily be on these two foldable devices, such as the Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Watch 6, no immediate release of additional gadgets is expected. Nevertheless, Samsung has been actively securing brand names for new products in recent weeks.

The registered names, including Galaxy One, Galaxy Pulse, and Galaxy Rhythm, are primarily associated with wearable technology such as smart rings, bracelets, necklaces, and glasses. Beyond the physical products themselves, the application documentation indicates a broader scope, including software applications for smart rings that track, gather, monitor, detect, recognize, transmit, manage, and assess biometric and physiological data, vital signs, personal health records, and potentially even provide medical advice. However, the feasibility of offering medical advice through these wearables is subject to legal considerations.

Additionally, Samsung had previously registered three other brand names: Galaxy Circle, Galaxy Index, and Galaxy Insight. These names also pertain to wearable technology, including smart rings, smartwatches, smartphones, and wearable computers. However, their descriptions are comparatively concise, with less emphasis on specific functionalities.

As Samsung continues to expand its product lineup, the registration of these brand names signals the company’s commitment to advancing the wearable technology sector, although the actual release and capabilities of these products are yet to be unveiled.
