OnePlus 12: Initial renders and latest speculations

The first set of renders and emerging rumors have provided additional insights into the highly anticipated OnePlus 12 smartphone, the forthcoming flagship model slated for a December launch, primarily in China, assuming the company adheres to the previous release schedule observed with OnePlus 11.

The renderings validate the alterations made to the camera module, which, contrary to initial reports, retains a design akin to that of its predecessor, the OnePlus 11. However, there are noticeable changes in the camera arrangement, including the addition of a periscope-style telephoto lens, potentially enabling enhanced zoom capabilities beyond the conventional 2X range. Consequently, the flash has been repositioned outside the circular camera housing, now located at the upper left corner of the module.

Another notable change involves the placement of the selfie camera, which has been relocated from the corner of the screen to the central section while maintaining the punch-hole design featured in recent OnePlus flagship models. Additionally, the presence of a curved-edge display has been confirmed, with a resolution of 2K, as per reports from Chinese insider Digital Chat Station, who also published the renders. The display is expected to incorporate LTPO technology, mirroring the specifications of the previous two OnePlus premium offerings.

Further details reveal improvements in wired charging capabilities, surpassing those of its predecessor. Anticipated to transition from OnePlus’ 100W to an impressive 150W, the device is set to offer an advanced charging experience. Additionally, it is rumored to support 50W wireless charging.

Addressing earlier rumors from the aforementioned Chinese insider, the OnePlus 12 is speculated to house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 system-on-a-chip (SoC), featuring a high-performance core, five cores designed for moderate workloads, and two high-efficiency cores. The battery capacity is expected to remain unchanged at 5,000 mAh, while the main camera is likely to adopt a 50MP IMX9 sensor, accompanied by a 50MP wide-angle lens and a 64MP Omnivision OV64B sensor.
