The 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Mini-LED display is said to be shipped in late March at the earliest

According to a report by the supply chain publication DigiTimes today, citing industry insiders, touch panel manufacturer GIS plans to expand its new product back-end module capacity at its Chengdu plant in China.

According to industry insiders, one of the new products is likely to be Apple’s long-rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro equipped with a Mini-LED display, which is expected to be launched at the end of March or the beginning of the second quarter.

This time period indicates that Apple may announce this device in the next few weeks, or at the latest in April.

The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Mini-LED display has been widely rumored for many months. The device will still use an LCD display, but it uses a Mini-LED backlight, which has the advantages of higher brightness and contrast.

It is unclear whether the 11-inch iPad Pro will also update the Mini-LED display, because many rumors only mention the 12.9-inch model, although the two devices are usually updated together.

The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro is also expected to use a faster A14X chip and support 5G networks on models with cellular network connections.

March is a common month for Apple to announce new or updated products. The last time Apple updated the iPad Pro product line was in March 2020, with minor improvements to the A12Z Bionic chip, ultra-wide-angle camera, LiDAR scanner and better audio microphones.

The Chinese leaker “Kang” recently stated that Apple plans to hold a press conference on March 23, but of course Apple can choose to use a press release to announce the new iPad Pro. Other rumored products include the long-rumored AirTags item tracker, the new Apple TV, the new AirPods and more Apple Silicon Macs.
