Apple Watch helps Brazilian police catch a thief

According to the reports, a thief in Brazil was arrested by the local police. It is reported that the police tracked his whereabouts through his stolen Apple Watch. Previously, Apple Watch had helped victims of theft and sexual harassment cases, but now an Apple Watch has allowed a criminal to be arrested.

Police in Grande do Sol, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil tracked down a suspect based on information on an Apple Watch. According to local media MacMagazine, the watch was stolen from an unknown man in the Santa Maria area. On Saturday morning local time, the man was robbed at his home. He was attacked by three armed men wearing Brazilian military uniforms. It is reported that the stolen items included Apple Watch and a BMW X4 sedan.

Within 24 hours, the police found one of the three attackers through the stolen Apple Watch-presumably through the tracking of the “Find My” app. The tracking data was used to guide the police to find the residence of the criminal and his sister in Villabrunner, Santa Maria. Items including watches and military uniforms were seized at the residence.

They arrested a 20-year-old man who had a history of stealing, killing, and drug trafficking. The unnamed victim confirmed the identity of the perpetrator, and the perpetrator has now been sent to Santa Maria State Prison.
