Facebook allows users to control who can comment on their posts

According to the Neowin report, Facebook announced on Wednesday that it will introduce some new control measures to users to give them more control over their experience on the platform. First, the social network will allow users to control who can comment on their posts.

For some time, Facebook users have been able to control who can see their posts, but there will be no separate comment control; for example, a post may be public, but only friends can comment. Users can also allow only the people and pages they mentioned to leave comments on posts.

This seems to be borrowing from Twitter’s gameplay, which launched a similar feature last summer. Facebook introduced a new tool that allows users to better control the content shared by News Feed by managing who can comment on users’ public posts.

In addition, Facebook recently added new controls to what users see in the News Feed. Users can add up to 30 friends or pages to their favorites and let them be promoted to a higher position in the News Feed, or users can use a new News Feed filter to only see from their favorites Content.

This new filter can be accessed in the Feed filter bar, and on Android by scrolling up the News Feed, the feature will also be available on iOS “in the next few weeks”. This is also where users can switch between the typical Top Posts view and recent posts.

Finally, Facebook is adding more context to why users see certain recommendations in the News Feed. If a user clicks on the three-dot icon and selects “Why do I see this?”, they will know why Facebook promoted that particular post to them. This is based on the user’s interest in similar topics, past interactions with that user or page, or Location, etc.

These are the latest measures the company is taking to keep its platform healthy and safe for its users. Recently, the company has introduced new tools to help control potentially harmful content in groups, and on Instagram, measures have been taken to protect teenagers from potentially dangerous adults on the platform.
