Windows 10 volume mixer will be refined to the tab level

Currently, Chromium-based browsers cannot connect with the built-in audio settings in the Windows 10 system. Therefore, including the new Edge and Chrome browsers, users cannot directly change the volume of a tab from the volume mixer, but can only change the overall volume of the browser.

However, Microsoft hopes to bring this change in the volume mixer, which has been mentioned in several Chromium and Microsoft community posts. In other words, users will open the volume mixer in the Windows 10 system in the future to be able to fine-tune each audio tag in Edge and Chrome. Previously, if the user did not know which tab to play the audio, it would usually cause the entire application to be muted by the user.

In a Chromium submission, Microsoft explained that it is developing a new feature that will expose the audio capabilities of Windows 10 to Chromium. This will allow users to set application-level sound states for Chrome/Edge features, such as tags and web applications. Microsoft said that its proposed idea will also solve the audio problems caused by muting Chromium or lowering its volume from the system menu and then forgetting these changes.
